Lopača Psychiatric Hospital

Special hospital founded by the informal founder of the City of Rijeka until 2003. intended for the treatment of mental illness and disorders and rehabilitation of the sick, it is located in the hinterland of Rijeka, not even 10 km from the city center, in the area of ​​the green belt of some 10 thousand m2 of space that falls under the hospital itself. Psychiatric activity in the hospital has been practiced since 1967, when the first psychiatric patients (ie residents) from the mental hospitals of Vrapče, Jankomir and Popovača and areas of the whole of Croatia began to be admitted to the then Institute for Social Health Care. The Institute was established to provide accommodation and care for chronic mental patients who cannot be rehabilitated in the complex of sociodynamic therapy, where the emphasis is placed on the prolonged treatment of chronic mental patients and their rehabilitation through organized occupational therapy, group and sociotherapy. Systemic therapy of gerontopsychiatric patients and adults and adolescents with mental disorders are performed there. The hospital also operates a KLA, which is one of the first established in this area. As part of the gerontopsychiatric service, psychotherapy services are provided with family members of gerontopsychiatric patients and assistance in crisis management in the family. Unfortunately, there is no possibility of getting a bus to the hospital itself, and soon there is a city line that will drive directly to the hospital, connecting it with the city
