Elementary School Srdoci, by the number of pupils of the largest school in Rijeka, who moved into a renovated school building (2012.) celebrated one hundred years of existence in 2012. Elementary school "Srdoči" is one of the largest elementary schools in the City of Rijeka and the County of Primorje-Gorski Kotar, and is located in the western part of the City of Rijeka in the area of ​​three local committees: Srdoči, Grbci and Gornji Zamet The history of education in Srdoči was described by the author Manon Giron (2001) in her book "Monograph on the history of education in Srdoči". The monograph testifies to the life and work of our school, in whose development path generations of students and their teachers are inextricably woven, who created the School as a source of public enlightenment and a center of cultural and educational life of our settlement. In 2012, the 100th anniversary of the uninterrupted operation of our school was celebrated, which represents an impressive period of significance and because it includes almost half a century long struggle for national identity and mother tongue in this area. Adequately, we hope that next school year, on the occasion of the 105th anniversary, we will be able to publish the long-prepared, second monograph of the School; supplemented by records from the past 15 years since the publication of the first. The monograph published in 2001 is rich in valuable data and knowledge about primary education in the Kastav region in the period before the First World War to the present day, and it depicts the history of education in the city of Rijeka. It is a lasting document that will remind all students and teachers, past and present, and other staff of a part of life spent in this school, the fact that they gained the first experiences and the first knowledge that opened the door to the world.
