Rijeka Clinical Hospital Center Sušak Locality

So many thanks to very experienced doctors, friendly nurses and well equipped hospital. They saved my husbands life !

I feel sorry for all the people who are forced to utilize services by KBC Susak. With that said, the true situation of medical care in Croatia is a tad complex. Patients and families expect decent care ( not excellent, but decent) and I can assure you, you will not find it here. Like I said, there are many reasons that cause this. You can look at it from a simple point of view, or more complicated. The simple one goes: no motivation for quality work because it lacks compensation and not enough work force in the work place. Here is the more complex version: same principals from the communist era are still in minds of medical professionals, lack of empathy and the idea that doctors are gods still rings true in minds of those same professionals. Government doesn’t feel the need to help medical infrastructure in any way, maybe due to the fact that many politicians only care for their own interest, not the common mortal ( like any other country in the world, so I guess we can’t blame them?) and of course, financial situation is close to non existent. After all that I said, and those are key factors, one question remains. Why did those young collage students chose to go to medical school? This should be the first question on their minds when they punch a sign in card before their shift. And stick to it. Patients will always be patients. And they need care, empathy, help, compassion and to be treated as human beings. Money or no money, overwhelmed or not, EVERY patient EVERY time needs to be treated the SAME.

Very unfriendly unmotivated staff. I had to wait 4 hours with a cut before it was even viewed. If you are really hurt, please do not come here. When I was first examined there was another patient in the room. They also do not believe in privacy. All patient records and documents were open and legible at the reception. Most unqualified emergency department i've been to!!!!

Worst organized hospital in the world. Long queues, no information.

I tried to get information about a patient in Rijeka hospital, unfortunately all the numbers I tried to reach were unreachable I am glad I don't need any services from this hospital because I would be dead at the time I would be able to reach them. No response at all on all the phone numbers I tried to call. After half an hour there was one number which responded. However I didn't get the answer on my question. However I got an information which is quite valuable I found, and that is: ' yes sir, you might find this an EU country but this is Croatia'. My clue is Croatia is not EU and that's how people think about that and obviously behave in that manner and that's how people feel about it. There is one question above we are talking about the hospital, not politics. I have the feeling that people in Croatia are more busy with politics in hospitals than trying to save lives, pity on them.
