Elementary school Don Lovre Katic

Until the construction of the new school building, lower grade students attended classes in two buildings Gašpić and Revija, which were located in the center of Solin, while for upper grade students, classes were organized in the building of the former School of Economics in Sv. Kaju. After a long wait and postponing the completion of construction, on April 4, 1954. 482 students and 18 teachers moved into the new school building. It was a significant moment for educators and residents of Solin because until that day, students attended classes in four buildings; two in the center of Solin for lower grades and two in Sv. Repent for higher grades. This fragmentation of space and teaching staff did not enable coordination in the work and unity of the school institution. At the very beginning of the work, the problem of unfinished school building stands out. From then until today, reports regularly point to the problem of lack of space and work in three shifts. The accelerated settlement of Solin has led to an increase in the number of school children and an inadequate pedagogical standard. At that time, in addition to the central school, there were also regional schools in Rupotina, Kučine, Mravinci, Vranjic, Blaca and Srednja Strana. School years 1964/65 the school has 1614 students, while the Blace regional department ceases to operate due to too few students. In the same year, the Children's Dispensary moved out of the ground floor of the eastern part of the building and since then the School has been using the entire present area.
