After today, we no longer recommend visiting this place. We visited this museum last year and we're amazed by how the history of this museum came to life through the amazing guide, who was so passionate about the archeological findings and the old ways of forgery. So this year we decided to come back, to experience this magical tour again. But it was not worth it at all. The guide was there, but he was guarding the door. He told us, that the board had decided to not have guided tours anymore. Instead of his amazing tour, we were offered an audio guide, which we weren't quite interested in, as it just isn't the same as having a living person telling takes with enthusiasm. So we decided to take a walk on our own, which really wasn't the same. The museum did put up plates and signs everywhere, but it only vaguely explained the findings, it was nowhere near how much the guide knew and told us about. Without his presentation of the museum, it was just a bunch of rubbles and remains, it was quite sad, really.

Get the audio guide or you will have a bad experience. Written guidance is sub par. That being said, this is a nice, quiet, authentic side to Dubrovnik.

Nice cheaper alternative. Let's take it. Compared to the rest of Europe Dubrovnik, although beautiful, can be a rip off. I've been to Rome, chania in Crete and Valletta in Malta all this year and they've been a lot cheaper than here. To charge 270 kuna (£30 plus quid) for a walk around the walls and to top it off 7 kuna to use the loo!! Come on. Anyway. This place is 30 kuna (£3.75) to get in. A nice interesting old tower, a display and walk around an old foundary and a section of lower wall to walk about. Free toilet as well. We were the only ones in it. Bit of a walk to get to but a small price to pay. Thoroughly recommend

Get a website. Write the opening hours on it 👍

Interesting experience but a little hard to find up a long set of steps. Good thing to do in the rain
