Good food and services
Amazing seabass
Excellent food at this Michelin 'Assiette gourmande' place slightly out of Central Split. We had the black risotto and truffle pasta which were both very tasty. The dessert was slightly too sweet and copious, still decent. Very nice place with a large outdoor terrace facing the sea. The service was OK, the restaurant seems quite busy in the evenings.
NOT a good experience, recreationally or gastronomically, for what was supposed to be our 1 month in Croatia celebration:
1. As we walked in (me, my wife, and our 2 year old daughter) we were basically threatened by a huge waiter that we have to put on masks just to make a dozen all-outdoor steps to our outdoor table. He said “we don’t want to pay the huge fines” which we heard for the first time after a month of 2-3 daily restaurant meals. Note: “Dvor” is “yard” in most Slavic languages.
2. We put on our masks, made a half a dozen steps and were made to stand in the middle of that yard waiting for the hostess.
3. Who finally showed up and said we need to hurry because kitchen is closing in 20 minutes.
4. Buratta, which I usually love was quarter the usual size and came inside gazpacho which I hate. Pea soup was unremarkable, my grandma makes a better one. Pig cheeks were ok and pasta was not bad taste wise, but the sauce was absolutely watery.
5. Waiter kept making lame jokes and cheap flattery until we needed the check and he was nowhere to be found. I asked a different waiter for the check and he was visibly irritated.
6. Decor is ok, too bright in my opinion, can barely see the beautiful sea view.
Got me thinking whether one can buy a pre-owned Michelin star off of eBay or something. But good luck, maybe you’ll have a better experience.
Overall, tasting menu was delicious (although wasn't convinced by the single piece of cheese/lava cake sat in a stagnant pool of watery white chocolate sauce). The view/ambience was fantastic and second to none in split.
But (big but), overall experience was tainted by our waiter who passed rude/snide remarks, and was generally hostile to us throughout. Worth the money- perhaps? Michelin quality service/food? Probably not
