About the Frescoes: 📌 Transitional pre-Romanesque-early Romanesque character are the remains of frescoes from the XI and XII centuries in the church of Sv. Mihovil near Ston, similar to the frescoes of Spain, France and Italy at that time, from which, like the wave of Benedictine architecture, they directly originated: from the focus of the Benedictines in the church of Sv. Michael on Monte Gargano. Although the Ston frescoes are fragmentarily preserved, a series of isolated, static, frontally depicted figures in richly ornamented clothing can be discerned. With the characters of St. Michael, John the Baptist and the saint, there are also evangelists on inlaid thrones and the figure of a crowned king as well as a donor with a model of the church. In addition to the general characteristics common to early Romanesque frescoes - flatness, linearism of folds, red circles on the cheeks, etc. - Ston frescoes in the freshness of colors and safe lines, the liveliness of head movements or gestures have some of their own characteristics. The frescoes on the first floor of the bell tower of the Zadar and Benedictine churches from the beginning of the 12th century (a series of saints, Christ in Gloria) have the same style, only with a more extinguished color and less strict linearism.

Probably the first Serbian ruler to have a Christian coronation as king.

The road to the church is very poorly marked and nowhere does it say how many more km or m it is necessary to drive or walk.

Whoever says that the church is Catholic or "Old Croatian" is talking nonsense. It was built by the first SERBIAN king Mihajlo Zetski. Read a little

First of all, St. Michael's Church is not an Orthodox church but Catholic from top to bottom so many of you on Google could know if there are no records so read on, thank you!
