Great market if you need fresh high quality local produce. There's always fresh fish, as well as meat vegetables and fruits. If you're a tourist and just want to look at the market, know that it's just a produce market and really nothing unusual.

You get to see everything that farmers can offer. However be wise and buy from stands that don't offer too many items. Look at the farmer's hands. That will give you an idea whether she/he actually produced the goods, as there are many resellers of imported produce.

The it place if you want to experience maximum out of a local produce. Fresh fruit and vegetables daily, plus fresh meat and wide range of local cheese, dry fruit and eco produce... All in one historical and hectic place. Plus - bunch of bistros and food joints if you wish to reward yourself with a meal or drink after you survive Saturday's grandma's list shopping :)

This is my favorite place to shop for fresh food in Zagreb. Best fruit and vegetables upstairs and a great selection of meats and cheeses downstairs. There is also a good fish market upstairs too! We don't even go to regular grocery stores. Dolac market is cheaper and better... And a unique shopping experience. Buy local!!!
