Lovely gentleman owner who lived through and survived the Yugoslavia war of independence in 1991/2. He’s refurbished and reopened his art gallery and is still there now, at 87 years young. He’s still campaigning for freedom & tolerance. Bought a large signed print of the mural that had been on the back wall of his gallery before fire destroyed it.

When I picked up on this street, I came across these photos ... unfortunately this great Mr who lived in this street, died in July. Small alley full of history!

Whenever I come to the city I make sure to cross the street from Puč, stop in front of a large photograph of painter Ivo Grbić and remember why we won the Homeland War. In addition to our love for Croatia, we were defied, stubborn, humorous (and they say that we Croats are not a spiritual people prema). All this can be seen in this great photo .... the man is burning the house, the apartment ... EVERYTHING! ..and he put on a blanket, put some pierced pot on his head and ..... instead of fear or despair ... the whole disinterested world and especially the "fraternal peoples" to the Serbs and Montenegrins burning his house .... shows a "frisco figure" ", as the Purgers would tell me. Thank you, Lord Ivo, for reminding us all, and teaching the younger generations why we could never lose this war.

Due to the influence of the Croatian War of Independence, Dubrovnik, which was registered in the World Cultural Heritage, was designated as an endangered relic. The house where Ivo Grbic, an artist born in Dubrovnik, lived and worked, was blown up, and all the works of art were turned into ashes. The reconstructed house is now an art gallery with a “free and priceless” banner written in multiple languages, with photographs and paintings about the house in the war, one of which is covered with a blanket. The owner of the house is firmly optimistic standing in front of the house that has just been burned!

Ivo Grbić, an academic painter, is certainly one of the greatest artists and famous gallerists. Back in 1951, he enrolled in the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, and his professor was the respected Krsto Hegedušić. He is the author of numerous works and finds in galleries throughout the country and abroad. He has won countless awards for his work. He is a great patriot and his palace burned down in the Serbo-Montenegrin attack, but he did not give up and is still working.
