Vila Sumrak Plitvice Lakes

Vila Sumrak is a very cozy and neat little house in the Plitvige National Park area. Location is quiet and beautiful, the room was tidy, clean and comforting. Moreover, the owner Mr Miro is welcoming and comforting. He will give you all kind of needed information and advice. Although Vila Sumrak doesn’t have a restaurant, the family does cook dinner and you can join it, provided you inform them by the morning so they can get the food at the market for you too. We felt very relaxed here. However, there were two black marks I’d like to point out: the day we fully spent there, there had been a serious emergency, as one of the houses nearby took fire and burnt completely. The consequence was the fire brigade shut the electricity down in all the village, and the water is delivered to the rooms by an electric pump, so both electricity and water were missing. I believe it would have been professional to makes us find a bucket of water upon return to the house, instead of expecting us to ask for it. After all, it’s unpleasant to be without electricity, but it’s impossible to be without water. Secondly, we discovered the rooms aren’t cleaned and tidied at all daily, unless you explicitly ask for it. This is not specified anywhere, and when we questioned this, we were told we should have put a ‘please clean our room’ card outside of it: unfortunately, no such card was in the room for us to use, so why should we have thought about it? Considering this place is 4-starred, and we spent almost 150 Euros per night (breakfast is NOT included), I don’t feel ashamed in stating that the price spent is not adequate to the service received.

The hosts (a small family) were really kind and gave us great advices regarding our trekking around the park... They also proposed us to care of our entry tickets, so we can get them at the breakfast (without having to waste our time in the queues for getting the entry tickets)... The food they prepared for us in the evening was really tasty... We can highly recommend this location for your next stay around Plitvice Lakes.

Very rude staff especially when a relatively negative comments were given. A prudent approach was definitely not to argue and accuse the customers. But this hotel which charged a relatively high price would accuse and blame their customers for not 100% obeying their house rule such as late checking out for only 30 minutes. Definitely not recommending the hotel to anyone visiting the national park given their rude attitude, far location to the main entrances and the not up to standard service provided. Clearly everyone staying in a hotel is to enjoy their holiday but not staying ina school dormitory and obeying rules and getting accusations.

Absolutely loved our stay at Vila Sumrak. Marko was great helping us with getting us checked in and explaining the routes around. I think Vila Sumrak is perfectly located, away from all the big tourist crowds and just a short walk to get to the trails of beautiful Plitvice. The food served was fresh and with local seasonal ingredients. Very tasty indeed. Accommodation had a lovely rustic charm and was spotlessly clean. Definitely worth a visit.
