Hotel Excelsior (4)

This place has amazing entertainers. Tourist guide and fitness instructor were amazing. Also, our children LOVED kids club. Lisa, the girls who work there was so good with them. Our daughter didn't want to leave the kids club :).

Location of the property is fantastic, close to the beach and beautiful Lungomare walkway as well as lovely town center, shops and restaurants. Unfortunately, beaches in Lovran are terrible so we had to drive to Medveja every day. Although hotel is old and built in communist style, it's interior is refurbished and it's actually very nice and modern which couldn't be said for the exterior, especially the pool. There is a lot of other amenities, we especially liked kids play area and the girl working there - she was very enthusiastic, just perfect with kids. Rooms are nice, spacious, clean and modern. Bathroom and balcony were not refurbished to the same standard unfortunately. Restaurant is very nice and spacious with large selection of food for breakfast and dinner. Food quality is satisfying, but could be better. Staff is very polite and hard working and did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable. We didn't use their parking because I read bad reviews about it, but there is a lot of free parking near the hotel so it wasn't a problem at all. We had a lovely stay for more than a reasonable price, definitely recommendable.

Brill hotel staff very helpful food is very good

I stayed here for about 10 days. Positive things were the friendly staff, spacious and clean rooms, facilities such as the indoor swimming pool, sauna and fitness. However there were also a few less positive things such as: prices of drinks which where way to high even for European standards, the limited parking space and no possibility to reserve a space in the garage, outdated outside of the hotel and finally the food which was a bit cold at times. Overall a decent hotel but I was expecting a bit more for the price I paid.

I stayed here at the hotel for 10 days with my son and wife: it is a perfect place for a relaxing vacation_ 2 outdoor swimming pools, one indoor, the rocky beach right down the stairs, clean rooms, the spa... everything sweet_ Of course the place isn't perfect: 4 stars is a bit overrated, dinners are good but bit "caotic", the terrace and the pools are "smoking allowed areas" so it happens you're having lunch or relaxing under the sun with someone else smoke smell, the building is far from being in a perfect shape, the SPA floor is as slippery as an ice-skating track, parking the car may be a big issue if you arrive with the wrong timing... but hey, it is Croatia and to enjoy it you must have flexible expectations_ If you can override this small defects, you will have a great time: the crystal clear sea, the kind staff, the calm, the good drinks and the awesome view will always stay in our minds_ The Entertainment Team deserves a special mention: my son (and even my wife and I) had a great time playing the games organized by the staff_ (we've been there from august 3rd to 13th, the team was very fun!!)
