Veliki Crnopac and the surrounding area are worth a visit if you're into hiking. There are several treks available - if you exit the road to Gracac about 150 m after the tunnel, you get to a gravel road where you can park and walk 2-3 hours to the 1400m high mountain. It's a hard trek with 700m elevation. If you follow the road about a kilometre futher, you can exit the road to a steep gravel path and drive for 2kms. You get to a plateau where you can park the car and hike about 40min to a touristic but, where you can also sleep over. The paths are well marked and you occasionally meet other trekkers, mostly locals. Come early in the morning and take plenty of water as there are no springs along the way. The walk through the beech/pine forest with beautiful karst formations is straight out of a fairytale.

Exceptional place. After climb so rewarding peace and silence. Undescribable nature. Shelter is cozy and with great atmosfere inside. Six sleeping places.Well equiped with suplies. It is custom,to bring what you need and resupply. There is a stove so you can cook food. Water tank is behind the shelter. Tools shack down below. Enjoy and leave it clean when you leave.

Ambitious but beautiful hiking trail that starts near the tunnel. Signage is great. Paths go over many karst rocks and partly scree. When we were there in August, the Bura wind was blowing very strong, which can be uncomfortable in the higher altitudes.

Extremely beautiful view of South Velebit throughout the ascent of the Gračac-Obrovac road. The untouched wilderness and Velebit karst can leave no true lover of nature and hiking indifferent.
