The school was founded in 1959. but it still remained the gym of the Teacher's School. Due to the 1964 earthquake. moves to Gundulićeva Street. In 1977, the construction of a new school in the neighborhood began. In the 90's it had about 2000 students and today in 40 classes 668. In addition to regular classes, the school conducts about 20 successful extracurricular activities. There are also several regional schools, eg Vrba, Rušćica, Klakar ... The principal is Vesna Šimić. The school and the environment are nicely decorated but it is a shame that the bust of Vladimir Nazor, the Croatian poet and the first president of the People's Republic of Croatia, has been removed.
