I had the pleasure of visiting Argante during Restaurant Week 2017. Delicious food with a visually pleasing presentation, elegant ambiance and an accomplished wait staff, led to one of my all time favorite dining experiences.
I plan to visit this FABULOUS restaurant every time I'm in Zagreb (I live in California).
I hope the Roasted Pork Belly with Honey-Soy glaze will become a permanent offering on the menu (check out the photos)!
Argante is a nice restaurant located on the first floor of the Antunović hotel. It's accessible via elevator and you don't need a hotel card to activate it. The food is quite nice and tasty but a bit more on the expensive side. If they ask you if you want extra pepper say yes just for the sake of experience because they have the biggest pepper grinder you've ever seen 😄
Great culinary pleasure, excellent service. Experience a high middle class restaurant with a great hotel and perfectly reasonable prices. Excellent fish, big surprise.
And just for the friendly staff and somewhat ambiance, which is somewhat cold and clumsy. That evening I went out for lunch on a week-long restaurant and was disappointed. I took a fish menu. Carpaccio of crumbs. Horrible. First I hardly noticed the bun on the plate and when I managed to blur it out and put it in my mouth, disappointment. No taste and taste. Not even marinated. Disaster. The main dish of rice jam filled with fish mousse. If I did not find a prosthetic mousse I felt a little felt and the smell was dry and tangled too. Celery cream good. Desert cube of white chocolate. I have to say I did not feel the chocolate. It's all about the doubles, just for presentation. If I ordered it at full price, believe it would cry out of misery. I will not say anything though it would be fair and more extensive.
The staff was very pleasant. For an appetizer we get one toast cut in half with 10 g of beef tartar. Main course 3 meat balls the size of plums stuffed with cheese baked with a salad that was inedible. Desert was the size of the bucket with which it is eaten. All in all the food was desperate. The experience that'll never happen again.
