An extremely interesting church with an even more beautiful history. Arriving at the top of the hill is not easy, but it is very interesting if you come from the main square. Beside the beautiful narrow houses, the main streets where artists gather ( via Grisia), the arrival in front of the church is magnificent. The church exterior is averaged but interior of the church is beautiful. The altars and the beautiful statues are made of marble. When is 800.g. in the city was brought a sarcophagus with the body of the Christian martyr Euphemia. The sarcophagus was located in front of the church of St. George which was on the site of today's church. However, the inhabitants of Rovinj demanded a larger church that would worthily house a sarcophagus with the body of St. Euphemia and in 950 a new church was built. After later years, the need for a larger and newer church arose and finally in 1736 the Venetian architect Giovanni Dozzi is completed the construction, and from then until today the church of St. Euphemia dominates the urban and seascape of Rovinj. The view from the front of the church is magnificent on the sea and surrounding islands. Just beautiful.

Great spot for sun set or climbing the tower where you get great views! If watching sunset take a beer and some cracks and park yourself on the wall looking out to sea.

Nice church. Find it a bit tasteless to sell stuff in a church otherwise quite nice. The views are not the best but still good.

I always overindulge when on vacation so any opportunity to get some exercise is well worth it. The trek up to the top of Rovinj will have your pulse rising...especially if you visit during the summer months. The winding pedestrian paths to the basilica are charming and dotted with small shops selling artwork, souvenirs, and local crafted goods. The church has a simplistic beauty and the view of the sea is spectacular. There is a bar located near the front of the church (i.e. west side) with great views of the sea.
