Gradec (Market Katarina Zrinski 5), today's Upper Town of Zagreb, was established on 3 June 1607. The first Zagreb Gymnasium - today Upper Town High School. It was founded by the Jesuits in an abandoned Dominican monastery. Many celebrities worked and educated at this school: August Šenoa, Miroslav Krleza, Lisinski, Jagić, John K. Tkalčić, Ante Starcevic, Janko Drašković, Ivan Kukuljević Sakcinski, Isidore Kršnjavi, Tituš Brezovački, Tade Smičiklas, A.G. Matos, Stjepan Radic, Dragutin Domjanic and many others.
