Visiting almost any post office in Hungary brings you back to a 50's-60's setting where it seems that management has a terrible nostalgia complex where they are longing to hold on to that age in time for as long as they possibly can. Because "that's just the way we have always done it".
The only difference between 1950's Magyar posta offices and 2020 Magyar posta offices is that you are not allowed to smoke inside anymore.
Other than that, those offices haven't been touched for the past 4 decades, nor have they even made an attempt to join the digital developments.
The places are packed with people born in that 50's era and after 70 years they still don't know how a ticket machine works, since it takes them about 100 seconds to decide which one of the 8 options they need to post a single letter or buy a "Boldog Névnapot - Isten Hozott" postcard.
The other group of customers are the new families.. pushing around their "CSOK resources" and blocking the entrance/exits whenever they can.
A crying child really is the best anti-conception after all.
Now comes the fun part. Trying to pick up what belongs to you.
When you/they receive a package from abroad that has to be personally be picked up, the (mainly) old gentleladies at the counters manually have to write down the receiver's name, receiver's address and time of receiving the package in a big old worn-down notebook.
As you might expect, this book is like a 90's telephone book, but then handwritten. Searching to find 1 specific package takes them at least 5 to 6 minutes of flipping through messy written pages since they don't have an indexing system to work with.
Once they have found your package, you damn better make sure to prove that you are the one person who's name is on the package, otherwise there is no way that they hand it to you. Same goes for your address.
Are you picking up the package for someone else who is unable to pick it up themselves? Too bad.. you're a scammer and a cheat in their eyes because your name is not on the package.
Thinking about sending a package to your work addres?? Forget it buddy, you're trying to commit a huge crime in the eyes of the Holy Magyar Posta!
So don't you even TRYYY to pick up a package for your old crippled and blind grandma or immobilized neighbour, you unethical imposter foreigner spy!! You're not going to screw over Hungary and its citizens!
Luckely Hungary has the United Magyar Posta Taskforce Squadron to keep foreigners and their strange non-matching names and address away from receiving their Aliexpress packages!
God bless the handwritten paper notebook and the wooden 50's interior and fluorescent lighting.
"Hope that you may never change!".. said nobody but the 50's era generation.
Time travel to 80s, still paper-based administration. They are absolutely not customerfriendly.
Because..
The kind delivery man does not notice anything that the peasant knows yes he has leveled ...
0 stars unfortunately cannot be given, this place deserves it. It is under criticism in every way. I do not recommend it to anyone !!!
I've been waiting for juices for 3 weeks and I haven't received them. If I don't give them up, I won't get them? It has a calendar that I pay for.
