Rákóczi Pince

Very nice tour of an historical cellar followed by a wine tasting. There are different wine tastings you can buy depending on what type of wine you want to taste. You can really tell that the people here are passionate about wine and the Tokaj region. Highly recommended especially in summer when the cellar remains refreshingly cool!

Well , where do we start ,so much to say of that place. Rákóczi Pince , hungarian name for the cellar of Rákóczi . Named after the ruling emperor of the Ostro Hungarian empire . This cellar ideally situated in the heart of the Tokaj Town , host the biggest underground room of Hungary ,you can seat 200 people , many aristocrats got crowned during the many invasions of Hungary. This cellar belong to the famous Hétszőlő vineyard (born in 1502), it used today as tasting room for the jewels wines produced by Hétszőlő (it also the only 100% organic vineyard in Tokaj,they basically occupied the whole volcano of the mount Tokaj ). Staff is super friendly and very professional, if you want a light tasting or just get a few drinks no problem , the first floor offer a beautiful terasse and patio, you can get kind of tapas and finger food . The cellar also offer the possibility of renting the first floor for private events. And if you are lucky you might visit the underground maze with a candle at hand :-) So definitely the place to stop if you are visiting Tokaj.
