The Sports Museum of Makó is located on the second floor of the Financial Palace building; its purpose is to save and preserve sporting monuments related to the city and its descendants. The exhibition site opened as the closing event of the Year of Sport on December 31, 2004. It features sports relics from the past almost 100 years. The current chair of the City Council's Sports Committee is responsible for the collection. Visitors can view medals, goblets, and diplomas obtained by local athletes and sports clubs; browse the archives of sports in the area and learn about the lives of the city's most successful athletes. You can see János Erdei's estate exhibition, Magdolna Wittenberger's leg-and-jump legacy from Makó and László Szabó's World Championship silver medal handball showcase. The Sports Museum is open every Thursday morning from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, but upon request, exhibits can be viewed at other pre-arranged times.
