Saint Catherine of Alexandria Church, Tabán

A nice church in a pleasant neighborhood Not s tourist site, it's mostly closed apart from the hours of service

Beautiful.

The mosque of Pasha Szokollu Mustafa in Buda, built in 1566, was taken over by the Catholic believers in 1686 and turned into a chapel. In 1697, the Franciscans built a school next to it. A parish was founded in 1702 and a cemetery was built around the chapel. The church was expanded between 1728 and 1736. The furnishings of the church date from 1748. The crypt was built in 1749. In the foreground is the “Christ of Taban,” a 12th-century tympanum fragment that was secondary to the wall of St. Catherine’s Church. (Wikipedia)

We listened to a concert in the church, very nice outside inside the building, worth a look.

Father Balázs's sermons are thoughtful, poetic, funny. Unfortunately in winter there is no heating in the church.
