Restaurant Huszár

Very good!

I eat here back in 2015. Best meal in Budapest hands down! And service was marvelous. I remember it fondly 5 years later in the middle of the pandemic. Looking forward to go back one day.

This was recommended by our hotel and did not disappoint. If you’re looking to try traditional Hungarian food this is the place to go. The staff were very attentive and the food was good. Since we went on a weekend evening we got to hear some live Hungarian folk music. (Played at a volume you can still have conversation while enjoying the music and food)

This is a great place with typical Hungarian food. The portions are good and the price is suitable as well. There were 2 strolling musicians to complement the meal. Will definitely go back during this stay.

Huszár is a real gem of a restaurant which I could not recommend highly enough to anyone visiting Budapest. So the location isn't the best and the interior could do with some mild renovating, but at the same time, I'm glad they've focused their efforts where they're most needed: in the kitchen. The food at Huszár is something which my vocabulary isn't adequate enough to do justice. You cannot go wrong with any item on the menu... But the one dish, which very well might carry the title of "best thing I ever ate" is their steak with herb butter. Oh. My. God. I've never eaten a more decadent or perfectly fulfilling meal. The steak is cooked to absolute perfection and is seriously melt-in-your-mouth tender... I know that's an extremely overused phrase, but this restaurant is the exception; the one time when it's really true. The meat is seriously of the utmost highest quality and is perfect in every conceivable way. Then there is the heavenly herb butter they top it with, which is perhaps the closest thing to divinity I've ever experience in this life. Atop the bed of potatoes it comes with, it is just the most perfect dish any carnivore could ever wish for- I seriously cannot see you doing better than this dish. I could go on about all the other amazing delicacies found within this little restaurant, but then I'd be up all night writing, and, frankly, I'd rather be asleep dreaming about that steak, which is all you need to convince you to go there while you're in town.
