It is the interesting Lapidary Museum of the Renaissance period, which joins the early Christian lapidary museum and the many other museums in Pécs. The quality of the pieces on display is especially noteworthy.

The art of the Renaissance came to this area belatedly in the 16th century, and the most important relics are related to the name of Bishop György Szatmári. The stone carvings presented at the exhibition testify to the former beauty of Tettye's summer palace (see Tettye Ruins). During the excavation of Máré Castle, the windows, doors and other ornate stone frames of a Renaissance palace were discovered during the excavation of the castle. On the basis of these, a drawing reconstruction of the palace could be prepared, which the exhibition presents. Among them is the reconstruction of a famous fireplace. At the end of the 15th century and the first half of the 16th century, the city and its surroundings were one of the centers of Hungarian Renaissance architecture. Most of these buildings have been destroyed, so we can show only their fragmentary decorative parts, window and door openings and coat of arms.
