Winter bade farewell with nice sunny weather, taking advantage of the good time I went on a trip in nature, this time to Bátorkő Castle.
In front of the Jewish cemetery, at the end of Mátyás király út, there are a couple of parking spaces and a relatively larger grassy space where we can park.
From here we have to follow the red tourist sign. There won’t be many attractions in the first few hundred meters, just a steep gravel ascent that looks like two joints, but luckily we don’t have to go that way, but follow the almost flat path along it. At a barrier, you can already walk through a valley, the red sign leads along an easy, slightly ascending road. The easiest way to get to the castle ruins is to hike by bike in dry weather.
If you are looking for a slightly more adventurous trip, you should choose the round trip, ie in the valley in the first half of the way after the cave (s) you go to the red cross hiking trail, which leads steeply to the top of the hill, but worth it because it offers a wonderful view in several places with a lookout point. I chose this and since not even the canopy really disturbed the view, it is especially good to see the valley through which the simpler red sign passes.
Of course, this sign also leads to the castle ruins, so from there you only have to follow the red sign back to get to our parked car.
Taking a lot of photos, looking around. The tour was 2.5 hours, with 3 cave cavities to be seen and meals at a lookout point, a total of 10 km of walking.
Easy hike, open all year round, even with children. The landscape is beautiful, well-marked hiking trails
Spectacular, captivating ruin, especially in the fall. His approach is dangerous, after rain, he slips. I fell so hard on a rock, I am blue green. 😁 + drone from my pictures ..
Nice castle remains in a pretty secluded place.
It is not so easy to find and even get up, who can build such a castle in such a place ?! I don’t know what his role was in a very collapsed and small but choppy place. However, the place itself and the surroundings are extraordinary. The way back is pretty steep, but I think it’s a good little hike, so it’s worth it.
