A relatively large functioning Jewish cemetery (orthodox and neolog separated by a wall), comprising about 2500 graves, including a Holocaust monument in memory of local victims killed by the nazis. Open for visitors with the help of contacting the local Jewish community centre using a phone number displayed at the entrance.

The land for the cemetery was bought by the Jews of Szombathely from Prince Philip of Batthyány in 1836, in the part of the then village of Szent Márton called Szőkeföld. This plot was enough for 40 years. In 1873, the 260 square plots were increased to 600 square plots. In 1880, the Orthodox separated a separate cemetery for themselves. In 1904, another 633 squares were added to the cemetery. The date of the last tombstone erected in the Orthodox cemetery is 1975. There is no Orthodox community in Szombathely.
