VÁR-CAMPING

I spent a night here on my long-distance hiking trip through Hungary. Considering the price the facilities were adequate. Noone spoke English or German. This made communication a bit difficult. I slept in a wooden cabin of adequate comfort. The shower and toilet facilities were adequate. At least in the men's shower, the blue tab is for hot and the red for cold water - which was quite amusing. I woke up at night several times because of dogs barking loudly in the neighborhood. One of the charms of this campsite is the good view up to Sirok castle which looms above it.

It is a cheap camp site with all the basic amenities needed and a good little café with friendly staff too. It is not 5* but it is a great, peaceful place to sleep at if you want to explore the Mátra or Bükk. It also is literally under the castle so it is very picturesque at night when the castle is lit.

Quiet and nice. Toilets are clean but the fixtures are rather old.

Kind and flexible service. Clean tidy small bungalows. Possibility of tents in a fairly large area. Clean bathroom, relatively well equipped outdoor communal kitchen. Buffet, can be fried in cauldron. Sensational view of Siroki Castle. Affordable prices.

Very good little space, but a few simple things would improve a lot on it. For example, you should: Decent, good quality coffee in the buffet. A durable ax that can be used. Complete renovation of the kitchen area: larger refrigerators, higher capacity microwave, some cabinets, ordinary plates, glasses, cutlery ... Apart from these we had a great time, the surroundings are fantastic, the transport is good even by bus and the starry sky is beautiful.
