The first cathedral of the Diocese of Eger, founded by St. Stephen around 1004. St. John's Cathedral was erected on the Castle Hill near the Episcopal Palace. For centuries the church was constantly built and expanded, making it the largest cathedral in medieval Hungary. At around 1200, King Imre first extended the old basilica of the old basilica, which he had renovated and renovated from the west, in an early Gothic style. He built his own tomb in the middle of this extension. Only the base walls of the destroyed temple remained. The ruin church in the ruins of the Dobó István Castle Museum.
Few ruins remain, though it was once an impressive cathedral. Visits to the castle can be found in the areas to the right of the museum.
