Ok. Not what I expected.

It's probably amazing if you understand Hungarian, but hardly any of the signs said anything in English.. The films were all subtitled, but as one had to see a film from a random point, it was hard to make out whether it was during ww2, in the late 40s or 50s.. Only one room dedicated to the 1956 revolt it seems

Waste of money and time. A lot of emotive lighting, music and storytelling but not many facts or actual history. Not allowed to take pictures, constantly stalked by Staff who were unhelpful and almost hostile. Best bit was the toilets that smelled nice. Obviously a lot of money gone into the museum to push a narrative. Do your research on the "the leader of a movement to rewrite the Holocaust" who is the director of the museum.

The museum is definitely a shock, especially if you are even partially involved, like you are Hungarian or has Hungarian relatives. The whole tour brings you down and yet, the last hall, with the video of the leaving Soviet soldiers makes you ask the question, why all of this happened, what is the sense? A definite must watch!

Interesting museum, but almost everything is in Hungarian so I'd suggest choosing the audio guide. Other than that, this museum is a must when visiting Budapest, specially if you're interested in war history.
