Frühchristlicher Friedhof von Pécs

Very interesting little tour with a guide approx. 1 hour long. I have never seen such early Christian memories before. My trip to Pécs became one of the most interesting and memorable sights. I recommend it to everyone who loves ancient exhibitions, buildings, memories.

Thanks to these tombs, the city was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List twenty years ago, among only 9 Hungarian sites. Here approx. 1600-year-old structures can be seen, which is quite rare in itself. There is quite a lot to learn about the late Roman era, the thinking, life, and funeral customs of the contemporaries if one pays attention. The exhibition is colored by video footage that helps imagine what was seen in its form 1,600 years ago. The survival of the tombs and their role in the later history of the city, e.g. how much role these stone structures played in the topographic rearrangement of the medieval city, in the formation of its religious center, and ultimately in the foundation of the survival and historical significance of the city.
