Sió Hostel

Apart from the location the apartment was a mess. It was the dirtiest hostel room I’ve ever seen and the apartment was already fallen apart.

We had a great lunch and the meat stew was perfect. My wife loved the Goulash Soup. The staff was friendly and prices were very competitive to prices in the area. I certainly would go there again.

First of all, reviewers confuse Sio Hostel with the restaurant next to it. The restaurant is OK, but the hostel is far from it. I will review the latter, Sio hostel. The good: The hostel is 15 minutes from the train station and 5 from the Plazs, the largest private beach at Balaton. Supermarkets and the centre are also only a 10 min walk away. Customer service is better than expected, although their language skills and professionalism have certain limits. Also, Sio Hostel is cheap! Cheaper than 95% of thr accomodations in Siofok, especially for a large group. People staying at the hostel are loud and generally, young (18-30). The bad: No wifi and little or no cell phone reception - this is super-annoying, especially if you have kids. Only half of the lights work in the rooms, ceilings are dirty and windows don't have nets to keep out the mosquitos. Everything is super-used and old and maintenance is kind of non-existent. All this (the sorry state of the building and services) is due to the fact that it's the property of the local council and is only rented and used during the summer season. This cheap hostel is great for youngsters who'd like to enjoy the beaches and Balaton nightlife, but I can not recommend it to families, people who need more than basic amenities or to those who would like to stay somewhere clean and not too loud.

Terribly kind and helpful at the accommodation. We also experienced this in the restaurant belonging to it. There is not a large selection, but the food was prepared quickly, it was suitable in both taste and price, so we almost always had lunch or dinner there. The area is located in a beautiful, very nice place, and you can say close to everything. What was unfortunate for us was that the bedding was very dirty and smelly, but the cover on it was pretty clean, and the drainage in the bathroom was not solved if the water came out of the shower during the shower. That's why there was a puddle in the bathroom after a shower. These two things were quite confusing for us, but we endured, but the accommodation was perfect for one to spend a few nights there. And of course this was compensated by the PERSONALITY OF THE STAFF, which is FULLY ABOVE AVERAGE !!! 👌🏼❤️😊

It was very good, comfortable, helpful tools for the rivers, everything can be solved. Their food is also excellent, the food is delicious, the service is fast and friendly.😘
