Nice seasonal offers and awesome food. Price is okay maybe a bit expensive but it's totally worth it. Right next to Lake Balaton the view is wonderful. The waiter was very nice and helpful.

I was afraid to try this place as the location is quite touristy that usually does not equal with good food... BUT this place is just the opposite! They offer incredibly extensive, delicious menu focusing on traditional Hungarian cuisine while there are many international favorites, too. The prices are so advantageous compared to the quality and quantity of food. We arrived without booking for lunch on a weekend but the friendly servers accommodate us easily. Love their desserts, can't wait to go back:)

A fine place to visit. The restaurant sits within view of the lake and in the evening offered a welcoming atmosphere. Tables are well spaced so you can have a normal conversation. Guests are dressed casually. Staff was friendly, speaking German and English too. The food I can heartily recommend, it is quite refined and well portioned. The cuisine is international but Hungarian meals are available. The menu is translated. Prices are quite reasonable for Balaton standards, slightly below I would think. No loud music here, thank goodness. Everything is clean and modern. Pay in cash or with card. I'd go back here any time.

Borcsa is a well know outlet on the promenade, in fact try to reserve in advance for guaranteed success. Weekends are with a live band playing oldies goldies, which is kind of a mediterranean thing that found its home at the lake long time ago. The food is traditional Hungarian, we had the duck liver, the salmon and the gundel pancakes. The duck liver was good and enough for a whole meal, the salmon was a bit dry but overall good too. The service was agreeable too, overall good vacation experience.

Extremely rude waiters. Just tonight, I went inside, said my greetings, told the waiter standing there I was there for a take-out, no one was in a hurry to seat me, including him, so I simply took the first available, empty table. THEN the same waiter came to me, and in an extremely rude manner asked me what was I doing there, the tables indoor were not in use(No signs were present anywhere in the restaurant with that information). I came there for a take-out for my girlfriend, we had a long day and didn't feel like cooking dinner. So I walked outside to sit at, once again, the first available table. Then came an other waiter and told me that I shouldn't sit at a table for multiple people if I am alone (Seems fair right? But there were 12 empty tables, just on the street front, and just about the same amount on the water front, and for the 10 minutes I was there about 3 groups left and 2 came in, all in the 2-4 range). Once again I stood up, took a different one and ordered my take-out. This attitude has been like that for months now, the last time I was there a group of waiters decided to rudely(yes the theme of the essay) point, whisper and giggle at me, I had no issue with their service before. My family and I have been attending this place for decades. But we do not live in the past, the present is what matters in the service industry. The employees are not trained, never smile, never greet you, unless you do so first, and in general provide an extremely rude service. That I would NEVER recommend to anyone in good faith. Employees come and go, I hope the restaurant will survive it, because I am sure I am not the only one that experiences this behaviour. EDIT: The owner's shameless attempt at discrediting my statements and complaints about the staff further proves my point of rude service, which he decided to amplify with horrendous public relations. Let me fact check him point by point. There were no signs or ushers to attend the incoming costumers. I passed and greeted multiple waiters, yet not one of them decided to inform me about anything. The "locked" part he mentioned, was in fact as open as always, with waiters using it as usual, as it leads to the kitchen where they fetch the food from. After barking at me, the waiter however failed to point me to a single table afterwards. They were far from having a heavy day, understaffed or tiered. If they in fact started at noon, at half past 5 they should very well be in their prime, and as I mentioned it, half the tables were empty outside, as well as all of the tables inside. What the owner fails to comprehend is that, this poor service is not something that only I have encountered. He can send me away in the comments, he can lie, distort the truth, whatever he likes. He will run out of fresh costumers to disappoint eventually, and will have developed a bad reputation before that. Unless he acts, changes his attitude and trains his employees.
