Tihany Yacht Club

We booked a larger, more expensive room in the renovated building, but just one day before our arrival I got an email (should have been a call, in my opinion), that our room is not available after all. They offerED a different room in the non-renovated building for 30% off. I guess that just would be the normal price of that room. I feel like they waited until the last minute to inform us, since at that point it was almost impossible to find a different accommodation at Balaton, so they expected us to accept the "discounted" room rather than cancel our vacation. Fortunately we were able to book a room in the hotel next door, so the vacation was saved, but it was a really unpleasant experience and we won't try booking at the yacht club again.

The renovated Tihany Yacht Club was a big disappointment for us. Already on arrival we had problems as we did not get the rooms we booked and could not remedy the problem. There was no trash, no glasses, no soap in any of the rooms. These were at least replaced on request, but a clothes dryer could not be provided. Unfortunately, there was no mosquito net on the windows and the trash was emptied only when we put the garbage bag in front of the room. In the restaurant, both the menu and the service were below criticism. Strange oriental fusion cuisine, in small portions, up to my two-year-old little son lived well. The waiters couldn’t pick up the order properly if there were more than two of us, there was always something left behind or they brought something else and usually they were still upstairs when it needed to be fixed. During the week we spent there, we met almost no polite waiters. At least the girls were nice, they tried. It was as if it was unexpected for the staff that there were guests and they were not prepared properly. There was no vodka in the cash register, no cola, no orange, no fruit tea. Breakfast was the same every day (eggs and cold cuts), which was a bit boring for a week. At least the baked goods were fresh and delicious. It could be a very super place to make the Yacht Club if they paid more attention to the kitchen and the selection of staff. We were last two years ago - true, the rooms weren’t renovated back then, but at least we ate good, drank.

Perfect for relaxation! Dog kid friendly place. They choose from small rooms to suites. Friendly helpful person. Disadvantage: the renovation is still going on!
