Eresztvényi Kőbányák Geológiai Tanösvény

The 7.8 km2 part of the basin plateau of the Medves Plateau, formed 2 million years ago, belongs to Hungary today. In the Medves area there is a 0.16 km2 landscape pocket complex caused by quarrying. The study trail connects the recultivated area of ​​the New Mine and the Little Mine, with stops marked with signs showing the structure of lava flows and pyroclastics (volcanic debris, tuff) of varying development. The hiking trail is spectacular, with many places with beautiful views and interesting stops. It is not a difficult hike, in some places it requires extra careful attention. Getting to the Geopark Visitor Center is the easiest. It will be a great experience for you to visit the nature trail of the Karancs-Medves Landscape Protection Area and the Geopark of Novohrad-Nógrád.
