HITCH-HIKING: Virtually everyone is headed to Romania from here. If you're headed for Serbia (or further towards Bulgaria or Turkey), try to get to the Hungarian-Serbian border - it's only about 20km, so it's not too difficult to convince people ;) Cross the border on foot and then ask people on the Serbian side of the border - lots and lots of opportunities towards Bulgaria and Turkey. I once caught a direct ride past Istanbul (Izmit) at this border crossing.

Hitchhiking: tried to get down to Belgrade without luck so ended up going to Romania instead and via Timisoara into Bulgaria (destination Turkey). When I did get a ride, it was by standing on the actual corner of the motorway shoulder so cars who weren't going off could also see me.
