For an average Spar product, however, the number of open cash registers is almost without exception less than it should be. I wasn’t in the store yet without long lines at the maximum of two open cash registers.

Terribly slow checkout service. One checkout goes, the line goes through the store before another checkout opens. The cashier stuffs a change of money for every customer who pays in cash. The baskets stand in a tower at the checkouts, with each incoming customer opening a basket on the checkout line. Terrible!
