Freedom Square

Well, in the olden days... it looked different, had more trees and provided more shelter from the sun in the summer. Now it looks a bit bare. There used to be parking spaces inside the 'Körforgalom' where the local cool lads with their Ladas in the 80s used to hang out in the summer evenings. The local BMX bandits back in the day used to jump off the stone stage that used to be in the north end of the square. There are shops on the outer rim, the Kakukk (Cuckoo- don't ask), a restaurant that has been there since ... ooh time immemorial.

The festive lighting is lavish, spectacular, and beautiful compared to a small town.

Shaded, woody park with many benches. There are several memorials in the square. The main meeting point of Nyírbátor.
