Unfortunately, this village has not become famous for its hospitality. We wanted to see the Madách Memorial Museum on Friday at 10 p.m. He said resp. someone shouted for us to come back around noon because he was going to give a “lecture”. I don't think that's how it works in such a tiny village !! 😡 They could learn from the staff of the Palóc Museum in Balassagyarmat!

Imre Madách from December 1844 to September 1853 lived in Csestvén and his children were born here. The Csestve Memorial Museum is the only Madách memorial site in Hungary today, which was realized in 2012 together with the Madách Castle in Lower Strait with the help of EU grant. Both locations can be visited from Budapest in one day and there is time to explore other attractions in the former Nógrád County.
