Eternal glory and respect for invincible soldiers! Zrínyi IV. Count Miklós (circa 1508 - September 8, 1566) "Phoenix of Hungarians", savior of Christian Europe. In 1566, with 2,500 soldiers, he stopped Sultan Suleiman I's army of one hundred thousand. The monument was inaugurated on September 7, 2016 for the 450th anniversary of the battle. On the last day of the siege, on September 7, Miklós Zrínyi broke out with his soldiers from the inner castle of Szigetvár ("Zrínyi's outburst"). Zrínyi, who was the first to leave the castle gate, was hit almost immediately, then the still-living warlord was beheaded on a cannon, and his head was later sent to the camp of the imperial force stationed in Győr, unable to liberate Sziget. The remnants of his army were then lost to a thread.
The sculpture group is the work of the Munkácsy Prize-winning sculptor Tamás Szabó.
