L'Huillier-Coburg Palace

1 star because during the visit there is a movie who explain in details the history of the castle but without any subtitles in english. This movie is quite long and there is no summary of it in english. It s really a pity because the castle is interesting but we missed a big part of the story due to that. It s not too difficult to add subtitles on a movie...

Nice castle, castle park. Closed now, it was not possible to enter, but we had been inside before.

We last visited Edelény years ago, then the castle was still under renovation and could not be visited. Recently we have read about how beautifully both the castle and its surroundings have been renovated in several places, in yesterday's pleasant autumn sunshine we decided to visit us because it has been a place on the boot list for quite some time ... Unfortunately - as it turned out later - it was a dead idea in the ashes ... We have been visiting the country with my family for more than 30 years, but we have never, anywhere, encountered such inflexibility as here at the information desk. We arrived around noon, somehow maybe we could feel the later ones, because first we walked around the castle from the outside, then approx. We checked in at the checkout at 12:20 after seeing groups start every 30 minutes. To our greatest shock, the receptionist colleague said with a faint, bored, zero empathy that he could in no way grant us entry yesterday ... because their groups of 15 are already booked for all their afternoon dates. Surely the lady acted completely according to the rules (the managers at work can be proud of her), but we had such a bad feeling that we decided that for the rest of our lives we would never be curious again about what we would have received in return. for our redeemable ticket (my wife and I were two, I am convinced that we would have been silent about their next group of 15 people, we would not have bothered anyone ... if we had come here from Nyíregyháza for this reason alone). As a state-run institution, the employees of the institution are certainly not necessarily interested in the increase in the number of visitors, and of course in this unfortunate "virus-laden" period, a lot can be caught up in the circumstances, but ... At the same time, I wish the institution very, very many satisfied visitors.

I was delighted. Not only me, but my children also really liked it.

Very nicely renovated castle! Enjoyable, imaginative guided tour. Not to be missed! Unfortunately, we didn't have time for the cafe anymore.
