Beautiful!

Using the former castle walls and building elements of three residential houses, Dubniczay Palace, completed in 1751, is one of the most beautiful Baroque ornaments of the castle. The inscription on its facade is “Non est mortale, quod opto” (not what I desire is mortal). Until the 1950s, it was a canonical residence, followed by offices, a marriage hall, and temporary exhibitions. It currently houses the Iroquois Collection, the Castle Gallery and Granary exhibition spaces, as well as the Tegularium (Veszprém Brick Collection).

The palace was built by canons István Dubniczay in 1751. The building, on Trinity Square, is one of the most beautiful Baroque monuments in Veszprém. The palace has been rebuilt several times throughout its history. István Dubniczay built a one-storey one-storey house at the behest of canons. On its symmetrical window axis, a tympanum ornament, two angels hold the image of the Mother of the Good Council. During the excavations, traces of a stable, castle wall, cannon bastion and casemate were found. During the restoration, the palace revealed fine, elaborate decorative paintings. Tegularium In the basement of the Dubniczay Palace you will find an exhibition of written, scratched, template-shaped monogrammed, sealed, tasseled bricks and special roof tiles. The exhibition presents the use of clay-based building materials and old tools of brick production from Roman times to the present day.

In a picturesque environment, visitors are welcome with meaningful programs. I like to go here, I just consider the 18:00 closing early, especially in the summer.
