The mosque, which is located at the intersection of the red light on Jl Soekarno Hatta with Jl Wan Muhammad Benteng, was built after the independence of the Republic of Indonesia by a local community leader Wan Muhammad Benteng whose title was Datuk Kaya Bunguran Timur. In the past, Jamik Mosque played an important role both as a center for the spread of Islam and social activities.
