Very nice place, good atmosphere and fine style. Not usual in Sumatera. ..

This is obviously the place in Singkil where backpackers and travellers go. The guesthouse is like a old museum, bit creepy but also exiting. Room standard is basic as usual in this area, like a cold water bucket. I liked the coffee and tea base in the common area and the Terrace with a map from the Islands. It gives you space to talk to other travellers coming or also going to the Banyak Islands.

Only stayed one night. But the let us check in at 1am, room was dusty but lots of space. Very kind people. Organized pick up to the boats to Banyak Islands and made sure we are getting on the right one.

Effectively this is like staying in a museum with all the decorations which is nice and the rooms are very spacious. However no one really bothered to have any interaction or information for us. We had to catch the ferry in the morning and didn't see anyone for over an hour to pay while another guest had not been picked up from the arranged transport and also found no one that could help him. We considered just leaving the pay for the room on the table which didn't feel good. I felt more like staying at a very disinterested airbnb than in a hostel, hotel, losmen or guesthouse. That our water wasn't running wasn't something we had the chance to communicate to anyone for example.

Amazing place! We stayed there before and after visiting pulau banyak (the islands). The owner is lovely and very helpful, really really kind man. The place is sooooo cosy, you feel like home. Very clean and the location is perfect, close to everything and barokah ruhma makan, very good place to eat.
