Pojok Beteng Tanjung Anom

Beteng Corner Tanjung Anom, also known as Pojok Beteng Gondomanan, is one of the four corner bastions of Benteng Baluwarti Keraton Yogyakarta. Located on the border of Mangun Negaran village and Gondomanan village, Bastion's condition is very alarming. Only remaining foundations are closed by residents.nnIn history, the Bastion protecting the residence of Duke Anom, the crown prince of Yogyakarta, was destroyed during the siege of Yogyakarta in 1812 by the British. One version says because of the explosion of a cannon belonging to the palace, Kyai Nagarunting. Another version says destroyed bombarded by British cannons.nnIt is unknown why this Bastion was left to remain in ruins. Some old maps still illustrate the integrity of this Bastion. But there are no paintings or old photographs that show the extent of the damage.
