E.C (Electrische Centrale) in its time was one of the important buildings that were built on Bukit Samak - Kec. Manggar Belitung Timur in 1909 by a Dutch company, Billiton Maatschappij. Billiton Maatschappij is a company owned by the Dutch empire which has the authority to mine tin in the Bangka, Belitung and several other places during the colonial period. So phenomenal was the story of the E.C building, that none of the residents of Belitung did not know its name. The building was a diesel-powered power station. At the time E.C was claimed as the largest PLTD in Southeast Asia. The diesel engine as a power plant, was refurbished in 1955 by bringing in a 4 stroke / stroke, 10 cylinder Stork-Hesselman - Dutch diesel engine. The machine is capable of producing power of 2400Hp with the generated power of 1650 KW. Unmitigated a lake also functions as a source of cooling for the engine. We can feel the engine vibration to a radius of approximately 1 km.
