Our favorite of all time! You can have fires on the beach at night, bike a trail to the dune climb and then keep biking all the way to Empire for pizza or bike the other way into Glen Arbor and enjoy the Cherry Republic etc. Love the Ranger talks here too in the outdoor amphitheater. the beach has a great view of the North and South Manitou islands. It’s heaven!

Site# 57. Beautiful park! This Site is about 100 yards from the Lake Michigan (trees do obstruct the view of the water from the site). Small path at back of site that leads to the beach. Or take a boardwalk path that is very close by.nHeritage Trail is actually the road that the site is on! A two mile bike ride from the site along Heritage Trail will get you to the dune climb! Spectacular. Two miles in the other direction will take you to Glen Arbor. Wonderfully maintained bike paths.nBit of a steep climb to get to the private feeling site. Nice size. Quiet. There was poison ivy here. We managed to avoid contact with it. Vault toilet is very close, we heard the foot traffic but didn’t catch any odors (temps were even in the 90’s during our stay). Down heritage trail there is a bathroom with hot water if you prefer that. Two minute bike ride.nRespectful atmosphere, quiet at night time. Beach is clean, not very crowded.

Favorite place in all of the world, for summertime fun, relaxation and quality family time. We have traveled (GraytJourneys4U.com) to many places, in many countries and D. H. Day has consistently been a family favorite for over 30 years. The only downside, which just began within the last couple of years, is that now instead of getting a campsite in a first-come, first-serve manner, you must have a reservation, which makes it very difficult to get into the camp grounds now. Many sites are reserved and not used. Make sure you check the website for availability frequently, for cancellations which will allow you to make a reservation for one of the greatest camping locations anywhere.

Great, usually quiet rustic campground. Seem to be patrolling more at quiet hour. Appreciated by us who camp there for peace/quiet. Friendly staff

Quiet retreat. Privacy even though surrounded by other campers. Close enough to enjoy hiking the dunes, the lake, and other attractions.
