New Raya Inn is a hidden jewel, off the main beaten path with a little more privacy but still within easy walking distance to surf--it's only a two minute walk from the keyhole where you paddle out. It has it's own little private-feeling beach, and beautiful gardens with brand new bungalows, air-conditioning, and generous sized, modern bathrooms. It also has a front row seat to Indicators as it is located directly in front of the wave. Annie and Peri are a wonderful, close-knit family sharing the warmth and friendliness of Indonesian culture. Highly recommended-- a slice of paradise!

The best place to stay on sorake.nClean new bungalows with hot water and AC, very nice food and good family. Now they have a good WiFi also.

Me and my partner stayed in New Raya for ten days, on our surf trip. Sorry for the long review, but wanted to share some useful info.nnThe new bungalows are nice and really clean, AC is OK, hot water available if you ask for it and the location is great. Food was OK, but be aware dinner is not always available (we once ask for nasi goreng at 8pm and the host said she was too lazy to cook), so it is a good idea to eat outside. There are some nice places very close.nnAlso know that the power in Nias comes and goes, and some times can be off for 5 or 6 hours (especially after storms). There is no generator, so when it is off you have no light or water. Booking says they have wifi in rooms but is not true.nnPery is very responsive and will move quickly if you ask him to get information for you. But be very aware of the cultural difference here, as we had a bad experience in this regard. Whenever you ask a question, they take it as you are already asking for the service and your are 100% sure, and if you then change your mind for whatever reason (swell, conditions, distance, etc), they will take it bad. We cancelled our outbound taxi one day before departure and they got super upset, the host was yelling at us and all. The day we checked out, we tried to say goodbye twice and the man didn't even turned around to look at us, such a shame!!nnMy best advice is: try to get all the info and services that you can on your own, and deal with people yourself rather than through them. Definetly not recommending this place to stay.nAlso, one piece of advice for Nias in general... everyone will ask you for an advanced deposit, don't ever pay anything upfront!!

The old bungalows are very basic. The new one seems more luxurious, but wasn't finished when we were there. The food and hospitality are exellent!
