I can’t even with the tour guides who are on standby at the parking area and harassing and demanding tourist to pay their service . I’m local and went with my friends, and there’s a lady who suddenly just came up to us and asking if we have a tour guide or no and we said and she said if we want to go with her and of course we said no, and she started to mumble some rude comments. We just ignored her and just went with our own. Don’t pay seriously dont pay just follow the people who are going up.

Avoid this mountain if you are not willing to spend a lot of money. The local mafia here will harass you if you do not pay for a guide. They are very aggressive (we got in a fight) Best to avoid if planning on doing this on your own. Scary experience, I thought better of the local people.

Check the weather forecast before going up. The sunrise hikes are super crowded on the way up and down. Sometimes the clouds will cover all sights too. Bring snacks for the monkeys, and make sure to see the caldera and the steam. Bring decent footwear, and yes, it is cold at the top of the mountain.

If you wanna hiking to Mt. Batur at sunrise, make sure arrive here at 4 o'clock, if u come earlier, you will find it so sleepy hollow. There are some warung there for you to buy something to consume or hot tea to calm your soul before tracking
