The Setu Legi Monument as one of the witnesses to the history of Dutch atrocities while carrying out operations in Argomulyo Village, Sedayu, Bantul.nRepost from researching iswarawati diah's thesis (2012): On December 19, 1948 the city of Yogyakarta was occupied by Dutch troops. The Central Government immediately takes action. The head of the village as the lowest head of government, gets permission so that all residents get lighting permits for the preparation of the transition which is done suddenly. Many people are due in the event. The Setu Legi Monument as one of the witnesses to the history of Dutch atrocities while carrying out operations in Argomulyo Village, Sedayu, Bantul. The writing of this paper aims to: (1) Find a discussion of the history of Argomulyo Village in 1948, (2) the attack in the Netherlands in Argomulyo Village during the Dutch Military Aggression in Yogyakarta, and (3) the Setu Legi Monument in Argomulyo Village. Writing this thesis uses a historical method consisting of five steps, namely: (1) Selection of Topics, namely the initial activities in the study to determine the objectives to be studied (2) Heuristics, namely the activities of collecting traces of time then what is known as historical sources, (3) Source criticism, trace tracking activities or historical sources that have been collected so that history can be accounted for; (4) Interpretation, namely determining the interconnected meanings of historical facts that have been obtained; (5) Historiography, which is an activity that collects synthesis that has been obtained in the form of historical works. The results of this study show that, the name Argomulyo is taken from the words argo, hill, and mulyo means noble. The name cannot be separated from the condition of the fertile and hilly land. The name of the Argomulyo Sub-District is very close to the Governor's Declaration of the Regional Head of the Special Province of Yogyakarta Number 6 of 1946 concerning the Autonomy and Merger of the Village. In June 1946 every Panewu formed a Joint Village Council. As a chairman, Panewu is a prominent figure in every village. Coming from the West Kalimantan Village, Kemusuk Village, Watu Village, Pedes Village, Kaliberot Kalber combined into one, and named Argomulyo Village. To commemorate the guerrillas released by the Argomulyo people, use drivers and transport. Directly, Setu Legi Monument was established. The establishment of this monument is motivated by events on Saturday Legi, January 7, 1949, the Netherlands conducted a sudden operation and many casualties fell. Some village officials were taken hostage to want to show the TNI headquarters or orangutans who betrayed them. The death toll was 23 people, and 123 houses were burned.
