I think this monument should be renovated, cause this is the important icon in West Kalimantan. The local government has to observe it to conserve the heart of Pontianak city. So that, not only the local visitors can enjoy this but also international tourists.

The best time to come here is on 21-23 march or 21-23 September where there's culmination time

A monument with a museum inside and beautiful scenery. The place is very green. If you're hungry, there are some food stalls.

Nothing much to tell in the Equator monument, but you can have a picture with the background of it and turn on your latitude-longitude coordinate info on it. It'll shows the latitude of the Earth's equator is, by definition, 0° (zero degrees) of arc.nThere's several stores selling souvenirs, food and beverages, as well as several snacks corner and public toilet (which I wouldn't go there if I mustn't). The interesting part was the Kapuas river at the back side of the area, with wooden pedestrian path and the view of sunset in the evening. It's a nice place to watching sunset or passing by boats and cargo ships during the evening. The wind breeze so well. A good place to having some pictures, as well as hunting some.nBut I don't think the place is disability friendly since there are several stairs, but mostly flat ground.nThe entrance fee is IDR 2K/person and additional fee for vehicle parking.

A lot of upgrade happen here.. been a long time not coming here... Now they have a waterfront and many shop... For the monument itself there is no changing... If you foreigner or from outside pontianak, you can ask for certificate that prove you had came to khatulistiwa monument for free...
