Previously, this place was a train station. Current function is a traditional market. Historical place.

An old station from the Dutch colonial era. History records that the Kudus Station was opened in 1919. Meanwhile the Semarang-Kudus Line was opened in 1885. Before starting in Wergu, the train station in Kudus was around the road leading to Surabaya. The station was moved to Wergu at the same time as a route transfer that no longer passed the Alun-alun area.nnAt first glance, the architecture of the station building is quite similar to Willem I Station in Ambarawa. It's just that, here the tiles have been replaced with regular tiles. There are two buildings under the main platform. It seems that the building functioned as a train officer's office and a waiting room for passengers.nnIn addition to recording the passing of trains, during the Dutch Military Aggression I, a shootout occurred between Dutch fighters and soldiers. The gunshot marks between the two camps can still be found today, namely in the form of gunshot holes in the stained glass platform.nnWhen it was still active, Kudus Station connected the Semarang-Kudus-Rembang Line and the Semarang-Kudus-Mayong Line. This station was closed around the 70s, along with the proliferation of bus transportation. Since the closure, the station area has been converted into a market. This continued until around 2017.nnNow, the station area is shielded and access is restricted. Hopefully in the future, the station building can be used. I don't know what it's for, which is definitely not allowed to stall like now. Eman really, considering age and its important role in the past.
