The Zoological Museum was established at the same time as the founding of the Bogor Zoological Museum, which was in 1894. The park was built in 1900 by Contreleur Strom Van Govent. In 1929 it was made a zoo by Dr. J. Hock and still functions as the Bukittinggi Zoo, the oldest in Indonesia.nnThe purpose of the establishment of this museum is almost the same as the establishment of the Bogor Zoological museum which is to collect and display a collection of animals that have been preserved. In the middle of this park there is a Cultural Museum in the form of the Minangkabau Traditional House or the Baanjuang Traditional House Museum built in 1935.nnThe museum was renovated in 2010 by the Bukittinggi city government. It is located in the tourist attraction of the Marga Wildlife Park and Kinantan Culture (TMSBK) or better known as the zoo. The building is just west of TMSBK, right next to a unique giant fish-shaped building. In front of the building there is also a statue of the Sumatran tiger that is so frightening. So anyone who visits the zoo, can certainly easily find this museum building.nnBukittinggi Zoological Museum collection of more than 2000 types of animals, such as the Sumatran Tiger, Cassowary Bird, Land Kangaroo, Buruang Kuau, Dahan Tiger and not left behind, the typical animal of Indonesia namely Orang Utan. The animals on display are animals that have died and are preserved. This museum also exhibits a variety of other historical objects.
